Designed specifically for labour and birth, the Pool in a Box Mini offers comfort, safety and practicality where space is limited. These pools were developed by Birth Pool in a Box and have since become the benchmark design copied across the market.
Birth Pool in a Box pioneered features now commonly seen in birth pools, including the integrated seat, cup holder and soft inflatable sides. These original design elements were created to support comfort, hydration and relaxation throughout labour.
The pool has a warm, non-clinical appearance and comfortable sides to lean against, supporting relaxation and the natural release of oxytocin during labour.
Integrated top handles allow mothers to steady themselves and change positions easily while floating.
The Mini pool has an internal water depth of 66 cm, exceeding the minimum depth recommended to provide buoyancy during labour (45 cm, The Waterbirth Book – Janet Balaskas).
The pool is constructed with three independent inflatable chambers stacked vertically. If one chamber were to puncture, only one third of the wall height would be affected, helping maintain stability.
Once filled, the sides are firm enough for a birth partner or midwife to lean on or support from any position.
One disposable liner is included.
Midwives consistently advise the use of a fresh liner for hygiene at birth, while many parents appreciate the option to use the pool during late pregnancy or for trial runs beforehand.
Using a liner provides double containment for added leak protection and makes clean-up quick and simple after birth. Additional liners are available if required.

The Mini pool inflates quickly using a standard electric or hand pump. Water filling time depends on your hot-water system.
When filled to a typical labour depth, the Mini pool holds approximately 450 litres of water (around 450 kg), depending on depth. Its smaller footprint and reduced water volume make it well suited to limited spaces, while still providing sufficient depth for effective buoyancy during labour.
Every pool is fully inflated and pressure-tested for 8 hours before packing. A further 5–10% are randomly selected for independent testing.
